About Dr. Anthony

Dr. Marcus Anthony, MD, CAQSM, is a non-operative sports medicine physician who is double board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Sports Medicine. He is passionate about partnering with his patients to help them return to the activities that mean the most to them, whether that be work, recreational activity, or high-level sport. Dr. Anthony recognizes the unique challenges you may experience after suffering an injury and will develop a personalized treatment plan based on your individual values and short and long-term goals. Clinically he is dedicated to utilizing ultrasound to inform the appropriate diagnosis and effective management of athletic injuries. In addition to orthopedic conditions, Dr. Anthony manages sports-related concussion, relative-energy deficiency in sport (RED-S), and overtraining syndrome, among other medical issues commonly experienced by athletes.

Dr. Anthony received his undergraduate degree from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego before he matriculated to Oregon Health & Science University where he earned his medical degree. He then went on to complete both his Internal Medicine Residency and Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at New York University School of Medicine. During his fellowship, Dr. Anthony received robust training in diagnostic ultrasound, ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal interventions, and the care of professional, collegiate, and amateur athletes alike. He is an active clinical researcher and has published several text-book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is also an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.

In his free-time, Dr. Anthony enjoys spending time with his wife and their young family, going out for live music, visiting art galleries, and traveling abroad.
