About Dr. Edelson

Dr. Edelson is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in sports medicine. His practice includes a wide range of care and treatment for sports medicine injuries in athletes of all ages with a focus in arthroscopic surgery of knees and shoulders. Dr. Edelson is Chief Medical Officer and Head Team Physician for the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer, orthopedic consultant for the Portland Thorns, and is a member of the Major League Soccer education committee. He provides orthopedic care for the Nike Sports Medicine Clinic and local area high schools. A past president of the Oregon Chapter of the Western orthopedic Society, he has also been twice named the Oregon Ambulatory Surgery Center Association Medical Leader of the Year. Dr. Edelson is the founder and Director of the Saving our Veterans Program, and Organizer and Director of “Passion 2 Play”; a youth injury prevention program. Dr. Edelson has lectured nationally and internationally on sports medicine and health policy topics. For recreation he enjoys golf, skiing and working out. He and his wife Jill have three children.
