Eric Stephen Yao, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Sports Medicine Oregon with fellowship training in sports medicine. Dr. Yao sees patients at the practice’s offices in Wilsonville and Tigard, Oregon.
Dr. Yao graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. He worked as a licensed Physical Therapist while obtaining his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at The Medical College of Wisconsin.
Following his residency training, Dr. Yao served as an orthopedic surgeon in the United States Air Force for four years based in Japan. Upon returning to the United States he completed a fellowship in sports medicine at The Lake Tahoe Orthopedic Institute.
Dr. Yao’s physical therapy background and surgical training bring a unique perspective to the management of complex orthopedic problems offering both surgical and non-surgical treatment options. His primary surgical focus is on shoulder, elbow and knee conditions.

Dr. Yao is married to Molly Yao, a nurse practitioner who also works at Sports Medicine Oregon. They enjoy spending time with family, travel, golf, tennis and spoiling their Golden Retriever, Finn.
